EPA Proposes Tougher SO2 Air Quality Standards

Law360, New York (November 18, 2009) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed a new, stricter air quality standard for sulfur dioxide, marking the first time in almost four decades the regulator has sought to tighten standards on emissions of the pollutant.

The agency announced the higher national one-hour standard — between 50 and 100 parts per billion — along with strengthened monitoring and reporting requirements for the emissions on Tuesday....
